There has been a great deal of buzz these days about natural and herbal ingredients employed to make food and drink products. While some may say that this is a new trend, the reality is that it is not so much a new trend as much as it is a return to the olden days prior to processed nourishment. After all, it was difficult to genetically alter beef in 1565 BC even if the people wanted to!

One natural product that was popular in years past that has seen a resurgence in popularity is Essiac Tea. Essiac tea is a native American herbal tea that was popular for many centuries, but was not made commercially available until 1922 when a woman named Rene Caisse (See if you can decipher the relationship between Essiac Tea and Mr. Caisse’s last name) debuted the tea claiming that she had discovered it had cancer curing benefits. Now, such an outrageous claim is dubious at best, ridiculous at worst, but Essiac Tea is a very healthy herbal alternative to the processed teas that are commonly sold in stores across the planet.

Essiac Tea is considered a health supplement that can aid in the relief of chronic pain as well as having the ability to strengthen the immune system. While the full benefits of the tea will never be known simply due to the lack of scientific study as to the validity of the claims, it would be safe to assume that ingested herbal vitamin supplements such as those found in this type of tea could hardly be harmful. Many times, however, the benefits of a tea are not clinically proven for many years. Green tea was always known as a weight loss supplement, but not clinically proven to be so until recently. But, at the very least, one can take solace in the fact that Essiac Tea tastes good!
